Embodiments

How can we ease the rift between our mind and body awareness to achieve more harmony and a wider sense of understanding ourself and reality? How can we reduce our objectification of our body and instead begin to subjectify it? We are so used to relating to our body 'from the outside'. This makes it a separate object which is absurd. We are perhaps afraid of being truly in the body in case we 'lose our mind'. The mind likes to think that it knows. The body generally knows more than the mind, partly because it is honest. We listen to the nonsense of the mind much of the time but rarely offer our attention to what the body has to say.

 

So how do we spend time on the inside of our body? How do we listen to and communicate with it? Be generous to it? The 'Embodiments' I offer are vocally guided experiences of the inside felt space of the body; not how we think it looks inside from anatomy books, not what we think it should look or feel like, but our authentic experience in the moment of our bodilly interiority, as subjectively as possible, allowing our body's own awareness to communicate with us, meet us on mutual ground. The imagination is a great tool for this, and I offer open metaphors to our interior to use as it chooses. The poetic language of metaphor is rooted in the natural sensuality of our physical sensing and understanding. This is intended as a subject-to-subject meeting and sharing between body's consciousness and mind's consciousness and anything inbetween; a bathing for all the layers of being, in compassion and beauty. This beauty has the ability to subvert our culturally learnt mind-dominance and immerse us in our own natural sensorial affinity with the beauty inherent in all nature experienced inside our physical being.
